Driving economic development

Developing a climate that fosters business growth underpins Queensland’s future prosperity. Queensland is blessed with abundant natural resources and a pleasant climate that encourages population growth.

Primary Industries play a major role in the economic and social prosperity of Queensland. Such Industries are the lifeblood of many country towns and regional communities. With primary industries and the mining industry producing half the nation's export income, sound policies, strategies and initiatives to underpin the future of the industry have never been more important.

Small and family businesses are the backbone of the Queensland economy, but they’ve been neglected by the State Labor Government which is more interested in producing glossy brochures about the so called Smart State.

The Queensland Coalition has always acknowledged the enormous role small businesses play in driving economic growth and job creation. As such, our policies focus on cutting red tape, reforming State taxes, encouraging the uptake of technology, helping strengthen business skills and competitiveness and introducing a ‘community first’ State Purchasing Policy.

The Coalition also believes strongly in creating an environment that entices new businesses to settle in Queensland and existing businesses to grow and diversify. This includes delivering essential infrastructure and working with industry, local government and the community to develop and implement regional economic development plans. This also includes skilling our workforce and promoting innovation.

We believe in creating a climate that allows businesses to innovate and grow, not restraining them every step of the way with inefficient taxes that penalise jobs growth and productivity.
