Improving the environment and Queenslanders’ lifestyle

Queensland is renowned for its natural beauty and tropical climate – both of which contribute to a unique and treasured lifestyle and a precious environment. But the lifestyle of many Queenslanders and the environment in which we live has been threatened by the State Labor Government’s neglect.

Housing affordability is at an all time low due to the ad hoc and slow release of land and the structure of property taxes.

Grassroots sport and recreational past times and interests like fishing, country racing and the Arts have suffered under Labor.

And the State Labor Government’s focus for the environment and our rich cultural heritage has been on playing politics and producing glossy plans and brochures – not practical initiatives that really make a difference.

The Queensland Coalition recognises the management of the environment and our rich cultural heritage as one of the most significant and complex tasks facing modern Governments. The rich and diverse biological and cultural heritage of Queensland presents Government with the challenge of protecting it, whilst at the same time promoting sustainable economic development.

The Queensland Coalition is committed to ensuring the environment is managed in a practical and ecologically sustainable manner. This involves implementing a comprehensive package of innovative initiatives to combat climate change.

The Queensland Coalition is also committed to making housing more affordable for all Queensland families. Our plan focuses on practical assistance to help people buy their first home and reforming property taxes.

The Queensland Coalition’s lifestyle plan will also involve greater support to Queensland’s communities to ensure the long term development of sport and recreation and cultural pursuits throughout the State.

The Queensland Coalition understands the pressures on the environment, families, the young and our older Queenslanders. Delivering practical, innovative solutions that really make a difference to our lifestyle and the environment will be our focus.
